Din 14 ianuarie 202o Microsoft nu mai asigura suport si actualizari de securitate pentru Windows 7 si Windows Server 2008 si 2008 R2.

 

Ce inseamna asta?

 

Inseamna ca de acum inainte toti utilizatorii acestor sisteme nu vor mai beneficia de actualizarile de securitate si de suportul Microsoft in rezolvarea unor bug-uri sau altor probleme legate de sistemele de operare. In plus, majoritatea aplicatiilor folosite de utilizatori nu vor mai fi compatibile cu aceste sisteme. Acest lucru poate crea probleme de securitate si de conformitate si poate expune aplicatiile si datele unei organizatii la riscuri serioase de securitate.

 

Ce pot sa fac?

 

In caz ca nu ai facut upgrade pana acum ai cateva modalitati de a face asta:

 

1) Cea mai simpla varianta de a face upgrade este sa cumperi o licenta Retail de Windows 10 Home sau Windows 10 Pro

 

2) O alta modalitate simpla de a face upgrade este sa iti cumperi un dispozitiv nou sau refurbished cu Windows 10 preinstalat. Poti gasi aici modele de PC refurbished cu Windows 10 preinstalat.

 

3) A treia varianta de upgrade este sa achizitionezi un abonament Microsoft 365 sau doar Windows 10 Enterprise

 

4) Windows Virtual Desktop. O optiune adecvata pentru organizatiile care pot utiliza o solutie de virtualizare. Windows Virtual Desktop este singurul serviciu bazat pe cloud care ofera o experienta multi-user Windows 10 si este optimizat pentru Office 365 ProPlus. Aceasta optiune include gratuit Windows 7 ESU.

Ce altceva mai pot face?

 

Daca firma ta nu poate renunta la Windows 7 din motive tehnice (compatibilitatea unor aplicatii, dispozitive, etc.) exista varianta de achizitionare a Windows 7 ESU (pachetul de actualizari extinse). Ce se intampla daca utilizez Office 365 ProPlus pe Windows 7?

 

Dupa 14 ianuarie 2020, daca utilizati Office 365 ProPlus pe un computer ce ruleaza Windows 7, Office 365 ProPlus nu va mai primi nicio noua caracteristica sau actualizare. Cu toate acestea, pentru a oferi ceva mai mult timp pentru a face tranzitia la Windows 10 sau la alt sistem de operare Windows, Office 365 ProPlus va primi actualizari de securitate pana in 2023.
Windows 7 ESU nu va avea niciun efect asupra asistentei pentru Office 365 ProPlus pe Windows 7. Office 365 este guvernat de Modern Lifecycle Policy, care impune organizatiilor sa ramana la curent conform cerintelor de service si de sistem pentru produs sau serviciu. Aceste cerinte includ utilizarea Office 365 ProPlus pe un sistem de operare Windows pentru care se ofera suport in prezent.
Va sfatuim cu tarie sa nu folositi Office 365 ProPlus pe Windows 7. Folosind o aplicatie moderna bazata pe tehnologia cloud pe un sistem de operare invechit poate provoca, in timp, probleme de performanta si fiabilitate. In ceea ce priveste Windows Server 2008 & 2008 R2 exista 2 posibilitati de upgrade:

 

1) Achizitonarea unei licente de Windows Server 2019 (versiunile 2016 si 2012 nu mai sunt livrate de Microsoft si vor mai fi gasite doar prin stocurile partenerilor)
2) Migrarea acelui server in Azure unde se poate alege sa se continue folosirea Windows Server 2008 & 2008 R2 la care se adauga gratuit  3 ani de ESU (Extended Security Updates). Avand deja o licenta de Windows Server 2008 sau 2008 R2 puteti sa o folositi impreuna cu Azure Hybrid Benefit and Reserved Instances pentru a primi pana la 80% discount la Azure VM.

 

 

Ca tot am adus vorba de perioade de suport si actualizari pentru sistemele de operare, Windows 10 are si el asa ceva.  Majoritatea versiunilor de Windows 10 au o perioada de suport si actualizari de 18 luni, exceptie facand versiunile Enterprise care au 30 de luni.
Actualizarile de caracteristici sunt lansate de 2 ori pe an pentru Windows 10 prin intermediul canalului semianual, fiind stabilite pentru martie si septembrie in fiecare an. Actualizarile sunt cumulative, fiecare actualizare fiind construita pe baza celor care o preced; trebuie sa instalati intotdeauna cea mai recenta actualizare de caracteristici (versiune), inainte ca versiunea curenta sa ajunga la sfarsitul perioadei de service, pentru a beneficia de asistenta de la Microsoft prin actualizari de calitate lunare.
